About this cause

Our aim is to promote how to save lives by being pro-active through education and prevention or by rescue from the beach, in the area comprising St Ives and its immediate area. We develop and promote the education and instruction of water safety, life saving skills, resuscitation and First Aid. To do this, we train to develop and promote lifesaving skills through sport. We try to enrich the lives of young lifesavers through fun, involvement and the acquisition of personal, lifesaving and competition skills in a safe environment. SISLSC ensure that the youngsters taking to the waters around St Ives are well prepared and safe while undertaking their sport. We welcome all ages through the stages of the club, from 7 to 70 everyone is welcome and we are a great part of the local community.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The club currently has no facilities and members change on the beach whatever the weather! And we've several hundred of them. A clubhouse will not only give the surf life savers of St Ives a permanent base it will also provide a great asset for St Ives as a community and tourist destination, where safety in the water is paramount to locals and visitors alike. We plan to create a clubhouse incorporating changing areas and a store for lifesaving equipment. Whilst we work on the bigger project which we know will take several years to come to fruition.... We currently have use of some chalets on the beach that are in desperate need of fitting out to be more suitable to store our equipment. With our little club growing every week we also need equipment for training and safety.
