We want to replace the boiler and heating system in the scout hut to keep it at a reasonable temperature and provide hot water.
About this cause
We provide the opportunity for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 14 to gain experience and develop their potential through the relevant programs and sections within the 1st East Cowes Scout Group. We work with other organisations and the local community to promote a more balanced understanding of the society we live in. This can be an emergency service, either visiting their premises or by them visiting the section or it could be by participating in district or county events. Within the section program their will be the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities that the child may not otherwise have a chance to do. We challenge and encourage the individual to participate and join a team that will help them extend their opportunities.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The Scout hut is used by the Beavers, cubs and Scouts for their weekly section meetings. It is also used by other organisations for their meetings and the community for family events. During the winter months the building needs heating and the present boiler has a leak and the system of heating air that is blown around the hut is not efficient and noisy. The proposed new heating system will enable the users to enjoy their events in a pleasant environment and enable the sections to provide overnight events. The aim is to complete replacement of the system by December 2017. The users of the hut will gain by the hut being warm and make their sessions more enjoyable.
