About this cause

Brownies is part of an voluntary organisation called Girl Guiding. Brownies is from aged 7 to 10 years. Aspatria Brownies have got 23 girls attending every Tuesday Night from 5 till 6.30 pm at Aspatria Community Centre. In brownies there are working towards their brownie adventure book. In the book they is three sections to be completed by the brownies before they move up to guides at the age of 10.once they have completed each section they get a badge which makes a circle. While at Brownies we have lots of fun by playing games, making crafts, making friends, learning new skills and earning badges. We also like to go on sleepovers to help gain badges and life skills. We also celebrate Thinking Day which is Lord and Lady Baden Powell Birthday who were founders of the organisation.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We have 23 brownies in Aspatria, we do a range of different activities. Brownies work towards badges which help them to develop skills which they will be able to use in life. brownies help the community by getting young girls involve and learning them about respect and to look after their community. Brownies is a group of girls aged 7 to 10 years and has leaders who volunteer to help run brownies. This term we are looking at different cultures and making bags, candle holders, making a picture using buttons on a canvas. We are also planning on going in Aspatria carnival this year and will need to make lots of props and get lots of craft equipment. in the summer we are hoping if the weather is nice, we can get outside and play sports and keep active and healthy.
