About this cause

Baby Bank Norfolk is 100% volunteer run, we take in used baby items and pass them on to local families in Norfolk via social workers, midwives, health visitors etc Many of our items are indeed donated by the public but we have to buy moses basket mattresses, bottle teats and other items as new for hygiene reasons. We started in June 2016 and have helped over 50 local families with bundles of baby items such as clothing and equipment, toiletries and furniture, toys and books. The families we help includes those fleeing domestic violence, those with a low income or financial crisis situation, refugees and those who have lost their possessions through fire/flood etc The feedback is that it is a much needed service filling a gap in what is provided by the welfare system and what is needed.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Baby Bank Norfolk (BBN) was founded by a group of parents looking to connect those who wanted to donate their used baby clothes, equipment and toys, with those who most need them. The project aims to support vulnerable children, parents and families through the distribution of essential baby equipment packs, both donated and purchased where necessary. Families to receive a BBN package are identified through professionals working with vulnerable families. BBN is working with a wide range of both statutory & voluntary sector partners who act as the referral route for families to BBN in the delivery of this project. Recipients of the packs include single parents in financial difficulty, low income families, people fleeing domestic abuse, & families living in temporary accommodation.
