We want to provide weekend workshops with top theatre professionals for our members to increase their skills and confidence.
About this cause
Kidz R Us is an award-winning youth theatre company, dedicated to getting young people involved in the performing arts, to support their development and the wider community. We work with around 100 children, teenagers and young adults a year many of whom come from difficult backgrounds - saving them from self harming, helping to build confidence after severe bullying and abusive backgrounds, and providing a safe haven where youngsters are able to be themselves. It also helps our team of over 90 adult volunteers regain their self esteem, provides a refuge and enables the elderly to feel needed and valued. Our youngsters are encouraged to develop acting, singing and dancing skills to the highest level, building confidence and resilience they can take back to their day-to-day lives.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Every year we put on 4 or 5 full musicals and thousands of locals& holidaymakers come to watch them. By increasing our member's skills through these workshops their confidence will grow and the shows will be better. We also open up the workshops to non-members so more local children and holiday makers can take part. Lots of our children are on autism/Asperger spectrums. others have been mentally/sexually or physically abused. Kidz R us is a safe haven for them and provides somewhere that they can be themselves. Schools and the NHS recommend us to help children with concentration problems and behavioral problems . We have up to 100 members at any one time.
