Andover Trees United
People: Supporting young people to fulfil their potential
We want to run after-school, weekend and holiday nature-activity programmes, to learn new skills, foster enjoyment and wellbeing, and promote an understanding about living in harmony with nature.

About this cause
We aim to involve ALL young people in our community to take positive action to help nature and create a green space run by the community for everyone. We are trying to make things better for nature and for children and young people to have a healthy planet now and in the future. We are trying to make things better for everybody, offering a wide range of nature-related opportunities, and encouraging our community to join in and help make a difference. We do this by planting woodland and meadows and learning to look after them together, running annual tree-planting weeks for all children through all local schools, and running nature activities for all.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our nature-based activities will connect all ages in our community-created wood meadow, planted over a decade by 10000 local children. The project will provide opportunities for young people, guided by adults, to lead and share skills and knowledge with younger children, supporting them to learn and play in nature. We hope this initiative will promote learning in an inspiring outdoor space, and better connect everybody involved – but especially the young generation – to the natural world and one another. By seeing first-hand how their tree and flower planting efforts have created a space for nature to thrive and a space where they can learn about and care for nature, we hope they will appreciate how small individual actions, when taken collectively, can make a big difference.
