About this cause

An Tobar and Mull Theatre is a multi-arts organisation based on the Isle of Mull. We work primarily in theatre, visual arts, music and creative learning. Our aim is to combat the high risk of social isolation and exclusion faced by our rural community. We aspire to be an island voice holding space for island experience in global culture at a time when the voices of small communities are drowned out. Our in-person, touring and digital audiences are islanders, from Mull and the surrounding islands. We also offer programmes designed to support artists, all school children on Mull, young people looking for pathways to employment in the creative industries and older people living with conditions including dementia. We are a place for joining in with welcome and warmth at its heart.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our Mull Youth Theatre Alumni Tour aims to bring together MYT alumni, who are now active in the creative industries, and current senior MYT members to devise, direct and design a new theatre piece. This brand new production will then tour over five days to venues in Oban and Glasgow, showcasing the exceptional young artistic talent that Mull has to offer. Our MYT Alumni tour aims to: provide comprehensive practical theatre experience and learning opportunities to senior youth theatre members who have expressed interest in pursuing a career in the arts; facilitate creative collaboration and mentorship between generations of MYT members; promote rural talent and voices in mainstream cultural dialogue; and inspire future generations to pursue careers in the creative industries.
