People: Supporting young people to fulfil their potential
We are looking to develop a reflection area in our school grounds to encourage children to practise mindfulness and reflection, promoting good mental health and enabling them to flourish.

About this cause
We are a primary school serving the Westbury-on-Trym area and beyond. Not only do we strive to deliver the best education possible for all of our children, we want them to grow up to become well-rounded, resilient and empathetic young people who will endeavour to make the world a better place, living up to our values: Excellence, Faith and Community. To achieve this, we encourage mindfulness for good mental health and consideration of the environment around them, which again can have mental health benefits, but will also ensure we have a world that is nurtured for future generations to come. We encourage the children to reflect on things to help navigate and understand the world around them, fostering positive change and attitudes that will ultimately benefit society as a whole.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our reflection garden will provide children with a space to reflect and practise mindfulness, promoting good mental health and wellbeing. In using the garden, children will be able to develop lifelong skills to help build resilience and enable them to flourish as individuals and contribute positively to the wider community. Planters will enable the children to get involved in caring for the plants, learning about biodiversity and immersing themselves in nature, developing a love and appreciation of the natural world. We hope to have an area where they can use chalk to share their thoughts or draw how they are feeling, and seating will provide a space to simply sit and reflect. These features will all help improve the children's wellbeing and their ability to reach their full potential.
