About this cause
Our goal is to develop self-confidence and resilience, break down barriers and build inclusion in the local community. Working with those who may feel disadvantaged or excluded due to disability, financial constraints or mental health issues, the CIC delivers Introduction to Self-Defence workshops, through the use of marital arts techniques, across a range of locations including local community wellbeing hubs, schools and children's centres. Sessions are open to all ages and tailored to suit the needs of the groups. The sessions operate a ‘pay what you can’ model, meaning attendees can choose how much to pay from up to £6 maximum. The CIC believes that opportunities to build self-confidence and resilience have a far greater impact on the local community than a barrier of cost.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The project will help build a stronger and safer community. It will build new relationships, remove barriers, and diversify wellbeing opportunities for those wanting to develop confidence, self-esteem, and new supportive networks. We hope this initiative will inspire others to take proactive steps in self-confidence and empower generations to come to feel safe.
