About this cause
Seeds4Success is a youth work charity, based in Mere, providing co-ordinated developmental youth work opportunities to young people aged 8-25 across southwest Wiltshire. Through inclusive engagement of young people in social action and a range of positive activities, our aim is to develop confident, healthy, skilful, valued, diverse and empowered members of our local community, providing targeted support to those facing additional barriers. Using 3 key methods of youth work delivery – Open Access, Targeted Support and Social Action – our blend of support and opportunity creates a holistic local youth service, embedded in the southwest Wiltshire community. Young people engage as much or as little as they wish, knowing there is somewhere to go or a youth worker to turn to when needed.
How this cause brings people in the community together
These weekly health and wellbeing sessions are free for young people to access, and we support rurally isolated individuals by providing transport from a number of locations in southwest Wiltshire. Young people can take part in different organised sports, use the gym, learn trampolining skills, use the outdoor pool (summer only), engage in art therapy sessions and have a go at some healthy cooking. Young people tell us that being able to take part in these activities with their friends makes them more enjoyable. We know lots of young people who don't enjoy PE at school, as well as those who do not attend school, really like coming to these sessions. They can be active without having to be really skilled and many young people tell us these sessions have improved their confidence.
