Angels and Stars
People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
We want to run a more constructive, in-depth bereavement support craft group, to allow people to work through grief and loss on a deeper level. We also wish to expand sessions to other Leeds areas.

About this cause
Angels and Stars is a local community support service offering support to families who have had a baby loss and adults who are bereaved. We help people in the local community to work through their loss and grief, both on an emotional and mental level. We do this by providing affordable counselling for families who are living with the tragic loss of a baby. We also provide a free community bereavement support craft group, which is open to all bereaved adults. One of the aims of our group sessions is to provide a safe and confidential space for bereaved people to come together and explore loss and subsequent grief. We also develop and encourage peer engagement and support, enabling new social connections to develop between group members.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Angels and Stars Bereavement Charity will help the local community by providing free community craft groups and standalone open well-being events, which bereaved adults can access with no pressure to talk about bereavement unless they want to. The sessions help people to work through their emotions about grief and loss in a relaxed and supportive environment. People can learn new skills and support one another by having informal conversations around grief whilst crafting and enjoying a cuppa. These sessions will benefit people's general wellbeing, and mental and emotional health by providing a safe and confidential space to discuss their personal experiences and share how they are coming to terms with their loss. They will also gain a tool kit to manage their feelings and emotions.
