About this cause

We offer martial arts and self-defence classes for children and adults from age 3+ across all age and skill levels. In addition to the general physical and mental benefits of martial arts training (increased cardiovascular performance, flexibility, functional strength, control and coordination of body movements, confidence, resilience and discipline), Bee-Safe Manchester places greater emphasis on our role in the local community and actively strengthens social ties between our students and their families. For this purpose we offer our regular training sessions which follow the taijutsu syllabus. This is complemented by specified self-protection sessions to improve situational awareness and personal risk assessment, develop safe habits and recognise, avoid and de-escalate physical conflict.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our Queen Bee Martial Arts Class for women and girls from age 13+ will create a safe space to exercise in a supportive group. We hope that this activity will teach the participants important self-protection skills, give them the confidence to take up their space on the planet and allow them to experience the joy and empowerment in finding out what they are capable of. To make this offer accessible to mums with childcare responsibilities we also run a kids club (age 5+) in parallel to this class.
