About this cause
We are a traditional scout marching band. With our members coming from the two local scout districts. We play at various events including fete's, Carnivals, Christmas Fayres and residential care homes. We welcome members from all backgrounds and abilities. We lend the instruments and uniform so that it stays available to everyone not just the well off. All we ask is that the children come and have a good time and take an active role within the band. Where possible illnesses don't stop members from joining. We currently have members with diabetes, Epilepsy, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia - it s a condition not a problem, we just have to make sure we put safeguards in place to ensure they can take part and enjoy themselves.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The money will help to replace instruments that are approximately forty years old. The band is made up of members from the age of 8 upwards. We give an opportunity to allow people (mainly children) regardless of their ability the chance to learn to play an instrument and to thrive in a team environment. If awarded, this will allow us to continue to perform in and around the local area at Fete's, Carnivals, residential care and at many other events allowing the public to enjoy our music and for he children within the band to grow in confidence.
