About this cause

We are Sheffield Lifesaving Club, dedicated to teaching water safety, rescue techniques and life-saving skills (incl. CPR), to children and young adults aged 9 years plus. We have over 30 years of experience in delivering water safety skills in a safe, welcoming and supportive learning environment at Graves Leisure Centre, Sheffield. The club is affiliated, wholly aligned and teaches the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) syllabus. We offer students the opportunity to learn essential life-saving skills in a structured and professional setting, with opportunities to gain recognition for all their hard work and learning through RLSS awards, and importantly gain skills for life.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The club teaches children and young adults the importance of water safety, rescue techniques and lifesaving skills (first-aid & CPR) in accordance with the Royal Life Saving Society syllabus. We promote safety – equipping children with skills so they can respond effectively in water-related emergencies, potentially saving lives; confidence – skill learned to help boost children's confidence in and around water, reducing the risk of accidents; physical fitness – water-based rescue training promotes physical fitness and overall wellbeing; teamwork – fostering teamwork and collaboration, important skills for personal and professional development; life skills – valuable for a lifetime, teaching responsibility, quick thinking and decision making under pressure.
