About this cause

BareFooted delivers a programme of work that aims to support and transform people’s health, wellbeing, and quality of life through participation in the arts. We work with all ages from early years children through to older communities and create opportunities for people to take part in, as well as chances to watch performances. BareFooted aims to reach members of our communities who may be experiencing barriers to taking part in arts and culture activity, such as financial restraints and social barriers, or living with physical or mental health challenges. An important part of BareFooted’s work is to enable community connections, bring people together to share their stories through creative practice, create community cohesion and reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness.

How this cause brings people in the community together

‘Bringing Nature in’ will connect children from a primary school with residents from a care home in a cross-art movement, music and storytelling project that will take place over ten weeks and explore the older residents’ memories of playing in nature as children. These stories and games will be shared with the younger generations so the children can learn about outside play from days gone by and be encouraged to forge a connection and appreciation for nature as the future stewards of our environment. Connections and exchanges will be made between old and young through moving together, reminiscence, song and play, which will support community cohesion, improve social wellbeing and reduce isolation for the older residents. A lasting connection between the school and care home will be made.
