About this cause
We provide vital practical and emotional support so that young people experiencing homelessness can move from crisis to stability. The Clock Tower Sanctuary is the only drop-in day centre for homeless 16 to 25-year-olds in the city. Based in central Brighton, it is a place where young people who have nowhere to call home can feel safe and ‘just be’. We listen and respond to what they need and treat everyone as an individual. We know that no young person chooses to be homeless. When young people experiencing homelessness arrive here they are often in a state of distress. We meet their immediate needs by providing a freshly cooked and healthy hot meal, clean clothes and a hot shower. We know that homelessness can be a very isolating experience, so we offer a friendly face and listening ear.

How this cause brings people in the community together
The special training our frontline staff will access can further help support young people experiencing homelessness with multiple complex needs. It will ensure they are approaching that support in the most holistic way and with the most up-to-date information and methods. This will have a direct impact on the young people moving towards stability – every young person who arrives at the Clock Tower Sanctuary has their own unique set of circumstances. We assign each client a Support Co-Ordinator who works through a plan to identify and access the services they need, such as seeing a doctor or getting registered for benefits. We also help our clients to find housing and look for training or work. The training will assist an approach that works for all the young people who need help.
