People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
We would like to continue developing the remaining garden spaces at Amersham Hospital to support the wellbeing and rehabilitation of patients, their families and our colleagues who care for them.

About this cause
Our charity supports the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, including both acute and community hospitals which see over half a million patients each year. We support projects over and above what the NHS can provide with a focus on those that enhance patient care, colleague wellbeing and also support local communities to live well. For this bid, we are hoping to secure funding towards our Amersham Gardens Project, which is uplifting multiple garden spaces at Amersham Hospital with the goal of supporting the mental health and rehabilitation of patients, and also providing much-needed spaces for patients and their families, as well as colleagues, to rest and recharge.

How this cause brings people in the community together
The gardens at Amersham Hospital support the recovery, rehabilitation and mental health of many patients, their families and colleagues each year. Uplifting the remaining gardens will support this aim, enhancing biodiversity and also enabling us work towards propagating plants and creating a sustainable maintenance programme for the benefit of all our gardens. It also provides immediate volunteering opportunities within the community, as well as the potential for us to teach people about sustainability and biodiversity through visits and talks held in our garden spaces.
