About this cause

Our girls are aged 7-10 and we meet on a Monday evening, in the school hall, after school from 3.30 - 5.30pm. Our aim is to build our girls' confidence, raise their aspirations, develop their full potential, encourage them to be a powerful force for good...(and most of all have fun!) in a safe environment. All girls make their Brownie Promise and learn the Brownie Guide Law as a 'framework' for their life ahead. Our activities include craft, cookery, games, singing, trips out and projects within the local community. By offering a balanced and varied weekly programme, and through working together in small groups, we can encourage self-government and decision making, show how to care for the individual and share a commitment to a common standard.

How this cause brings people in the community together

A dedicated laptop/tablet, with anti-viral software, for Brownies will assist us in many ways. Primarily it will be a safe and secure method to aid administration and communication. It will also be used by the girls during our meetings as a source of information for their badgework, to discover more about Guiding around the world, as a music source for teaching new songs and to archive our activities through photographs or short videos. It will also be used at our community events held throughout the year, such as parties for the elderly or lonely, entertainment evenings for past leaders and to assist with running the annual Bingo Evening to raise money for our community during May Fair Week.
