About this cause

Kinergy is a Bristol charity that has been providing specialist, trauma-informed counselling, and a range of group therapies to support survivors of sexual abuse and violence since 1996. We support adult survivors of all genders living in Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, and Bath and North East Somerset with an inclusive and accessible service in a welcoming and secure environment. This service fills a vital gap in the care of our community and an essential role in the availability of local specialist mental health services. Our primary aim is to lessen the trauma and long-term effects of sexual abuse and violence, helping survivors to recover safely, understand their experience and secure lasting improvements in their mental health and overall wellbeing.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our placement counsellors will provide specialist trauma-informed support for adult survivors of sexual abuse and violence living in our local community. They will provide each survivor with 18 tailored 1:1 counselling sessions. Our placements are open to both qualified counsellors and to students looking for a placement as part of a degree or diploma in counselling or psychotherapy. This project will help to support their development, providing essential professional training, safeguarding and individual supervision so they are fully equipped to address the unique needs of survivors. We hope this project will both positively impact the education and professional development of our counsellors and have a lasting impact on the mental health and general wellbeing of local survivors.
