The Edward Hain Centre
People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
We are seeking funding to develop our volunteer network. In 2025/26, we want to run a series of open days for new and potential volunteers, as well as training events to support them in that role.

About this cause
Our charity was set up to buy and refurbish St Ives former hospital, to provide health and wellbeing services for the town and its surrounding communities. This is a much-loved historic local building. In it, we hope to create space for a substantial number of permanent healthcare services, as well as social and community groups and support for vulnerable people. This means facilities for consulting rooms, patient rooms, ancillary offices, and meeting spaces. Our space has the potential to house healthcare providers such as the NHS and community dentistry, as well as the facilities to provide a home for groups offering a wide range of social support, such as pain cafes, food banks, and craft groups.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The Edward Hain Centre will help the local community by providing health and wellbeing services in St Ives and surrounding areas. Our Centre also provides space for groups and activities which will help older people, or those who need social support, feel more connected. We are developing a network of volunteers so local people can get involved in running the Centre and shape its services for the community. Volunteers are needed to help staff the centre, meet and greet visitors, look after meeting spaces, and maintain the centre's garden. We want to offer open days and training sessions for new and potential volunteers who want to get more involved.
