About this cause
Mental Wealth London hosts regular art workshops for women and their families who have experienced challenges with their mental health as well as those who feel that a creative activity will help prevent poor mental health in their busy and often stressful lives. We promote our services widely so that they are accessible to all. Our mission is to provide safe spaces for women and their families to invest in their emotional wellbeing. We do this through art-based activities and mindfulness. From knowing our community well, we are aware that there is a high local need for women to invest in their own wellbeing, that the creative activities we run are truly beneficial and that our support makes a positive difference to participants' and their families' wellbeing.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We serve women in Southwark and their families who wish they had more opportunities for themselves to just relax and be creative. Participants may have diagnosed mental health conditions or feel stressed and anxious, and recognise that they need time in the week to focus on themselves. The people we serve often face other difficulties in their life such as poor physical health and financial or family difficulties that put them under emotional pressure. In addition to our regular drop-in sessions our ‘Family Wellbeing Art Club’ will run in the school holidays, allowing women to share their mindful painting experiences with family members and children. We offer an intergenerational wellbeing opportunity that is open to all Southwark residents.
