About this cause
1st Fordingbridge Scout Group delivers Scouting to over 80 young people in Fordingbridge and surrounding areas from the ages of 4 to 18. We have a team of 20 adult volunteers who deliver the weekly sessions. Scouting is open to all, and we actively support the young people to develop personally in their skills for life, to learn to work as part of a team and to make a positive contribution to society. This is done through a range of activities and sessions, mostly delivered from our headquarters building in Fordingbridge, but also outdoors. Our young people achieve badges to show their progress, leading to awards such as those from the Duke of Edinburgh scheme and the King's Scout Award.
How this cause brings people in the community together
As our Scout group grows so does our need for equipment such as tents, backwoods cooking stoves and pans, pioneering ropes, folding tables and chairs, outdoor craft and games equipment. This equipment allows us to give all of the sections from the youngest Squirrel Scout to the oldest Explorer Scout opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, become more independent, work as part of a team, and help others by passing on their skills.
