About this cause
The Oak Hill ASD Holiday Club will provide an experienced support worker for each Autistic child or young person who needs one to access our services. School holidays can be challenging for children with Autism and complex needs, as well as for their parents or caregivers. The lack of a regular, structured routine during holidays can be distressing for many children with Autism and complex needs, leading to challenging behaviour and adding stress to the family dynamic. By participating in the club, children will receive support in coping with these challenges, ultimately reducing stress for the entire family and supporting working families.
How this cause brings people in the community together
In addition to serving children and young people with Autism, we directly support their families, especially parents and caregivers, who significantly benefit from our services. Providing a safe and structured setting for their children during the holidays relieves the constant care and supervision burden, reducing stress and enhancing family well-being. This respite allows parents to continue their employment without disruption, manage household duties, or spend quality time with siblings of the Autistic child, who may often feel overshadowed by the intensive care needs of their brother or sister. Consequently, our service extends its benefits beyond the immediate users to improve the quality of life for entire families, fostering a more supportive and understanding environment for all.
