About this cause

We are a local community hall (ex miners welfare hall) which caters for the whole community of all ages, abilities, ethnicities and backgrounds across a wide range of activities from bingo to table tennis, Scouts, Slimming World RVS over 55 club, Food Bank and drop in, Socialist Clothing Bank, dance, Disabled sports activities as well as a venue for hire by local people for parties, receptions and events. We work with all age ranges and have something for everybody depending on their needs. We are a central hub for the local community to come together for common activities and social interaction all at a very affordable rate.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The users would benefit from a reduction in draughts and an increase in security when some of our more nervous members are using the premises. We would replace the existing, blanked off wooden doors with composite doors to match those already in place as the entrance, enhancing not only heat and security but the aesthetics of the facade. Everyone who uses the hall , by definition, the local community, would benefit from this work. It would involve our Building sub committee together with a local contractor (it is our policy to keep any work local), who would carry out the work to a professional standards with warranties and guarantees.
