People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing

We would like to use the funding to pay for accessible transport to enable survivors of an acquired brain injury to go out together, gain new experiences and have fun.

About this cause

A brain injury can happen to anyone at any time. At Headway Luton, we support acquired brain injury survivors and their families lead hopeful and positive lives after their brain injury. We do this through activities at our day centres in Luton and Houghton Regis, as well as support via our community team – making sure survivors get all the support, advice and guidance they need to live as independently as possible.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Having a brain injury can be life-changing. Aside from the physical and cognitive impact, for most clients, their confidence takes a serious knock-back. Before their brain injury, clients may have had successful careers, travelled the world, attended theatres and gone to restaurants with no concerns, but after their brain injury, these activities may become daunting. This funding will enable us to provide the transport so that more clients, especially those with the highest care needs, can get outside of the four walls of their homes and our day centre, and into the community in order to experience all Luton and nearby areas have to offer.
