We aim to set up a free afterschool club for children in the Yatton village, to accommodate families who are on low income and need extra support for their children.
About this cause
Art in Action is a local, community-based company with the purpose of helping people throughout North Somerset through education in the arts. We deliver high-quality arts workshops to a diverse range of people in the community. Our main focus is to promote mental wellbeing to children and their families by running workshops, holiday clubs and events.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We already run the HAF programme in Yatton. This is a free holiday club for children whose families are on low income. This is run in the school holidays at Chestnut Park School and is fully funded by North Somerset Council. We offer a range of activities throughout the day and also a hot meal at lunch time. We work closely with a number of families, offering free places for their children, and also food parcels where needed. We aim to be able to offer much needed support throughout term time for the families we work with and also to make ourselves known to others in need. An afterschool club offering will help so many families whose children need extra support. We can offer food where needed, lend an ear to parents who are struggling and also offer great activities for the children.
