We would like to purchase plants and flowers for a city centre young people's garden.
About this cause
Streetwise is a North East regional charity which offers safe, confidential, non-judgemental services for young people aged 11 – 25 years. We work in partnership with Parents, GP’s, Health workers, Teachers, the Police etc. Services are available 6 days per week including; every Saturday, 3 x twilight evenings and 3 x nights via detached street work. Last year we supported over 6,000 children making 16,000 contacts, issues included; suicidal thoughts, self-harm, anxiety, family breakdown and relationship concerns. The charity evidenced a 65% reduction in young people’s mental health issues, 92% reduction in risk taking behaviours, 96% better coping skills and 65% improvement in overall well being.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We are hoping to work in partnership with The Gate to support vulnerable young people to work together and produce a community garden in the city centre. Our YouthWise young people's participation group aim to promote this opportunity to other young people in order to help them develop new skills, confidence and environmental awareness. Supporting a reduction in anti social behaviour whilst promoting positive images of young people.
