People: Supporting young people to fulfil their potential
We aim to replace and add to our camping equipment, now we can finally go on camps regularly again. Our current gear is not sufficient for our group and much of it has seen considerably better days.
About this cause
Scouting enables and supports children to develop skills and gain experiences they wouldn’t always get at home or through education, offering opportunities to try new activities and learn new skills, building confidence and self-reliance. It facilitates core values such as integrity, care, honesty, self-respect and respect for others. Crucially, it also teaches children to take care of our world by contributing to society in a positive way. Scouting plays a big part in the community, supporting local charities, helping with community events, and bringing children from different schools and backgrounds together. It’s often the first link into a world outside of school. Through activities at regular meetings and camps, the children develop their individual voices and practise being heard.

How this cause brings people in the community together
Our project will support the development and growth of our community’s Scout group and its participants. With more and improved camping equipment, we can provide local children and young people with richer activities and opportunities for personal development. This age group has limited other options for group activities within walking distance in our area, and camping together helps them in so many ways – it improves their mental wellbeing and helps them get closer to nature, whilst learning about ways they can work together in teams, make a difference and gain life skills to help them contribute to society. The camping equipment will not only be utilised at camps, but will also be used for learning at regular meetings, especially in warmer months, using our outside space.
