About this cause
New Forest Basics Bank (NFBB) provides food and other household essentials to households in need in the south of the New Forest. All those we help are referred to the Basics Bank by a variety of organisations including churches, CAB, GPs, social prescribers, and schools. The parcels provided by NFBB are tailored to the individual household and include fresh fruit and vegetables, tinned items, bread, cheese, milk and a range of other essentials such as washing-up liquid and sanitary products. The aim is to provide each household with enough food and essentials for a week. In addition to supporting households in need, NFBB also provides food for a number of local schools to support breakfast and after-school clubs and for a local church who provide hot meals and support.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The aim of our work is to give those in need a parcel of food to ensure they can be properly fed while they focus on other aspects of their lives to get to a position where they no longer need support. Without food, people struggle to do all the other things in life.
