About this cause
We are an active community group whose main aim is to reduce carbon emissions in the Bradford on Avon community area and to promote, support and develop low carbon, sustainable and resilient lifestyles. Our events and activities fall under the following themes: Active Travel, Biodiversity, Energy, Community Involvement, Families, Sustainable Food and Drink, Swifts, and Zero Waste. There is an Action group for each theme, their meetings are arranged by their Coordinators. Example activities include work with local food and drink businesses on provenance and packaging, waste reduction through the Repair Cafés in Bradford on Avon, a feasibility study for a new traffic-free ‘greenway’ between Bradford on Avon and Trowbridge, and a full programme of meetings, presentations and outreach events.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Climate Friendly Bradford on Avon supports a range of local community groups, including those which support people who are vulnerable or socially marginalised. We would like to provide funding for green and nature-based healthcare interventions. It has been shown in many scientific studies that contact with nature has positive effects on people's mental and physical health, and can improve recovery times. These might include mindfulness-in-nature sessions, walking groups, community food-growing groups, and wellbeing projects which support people with healthy, eco-friendly lifestyle change. Your donations will help people to develop greener, healthier lives, and a greener, healthier planet.
