We want to continue to provide a safe place for our young people where they can be themselves without fear of judgement or persecution.
About this cause
Breakout runs a youth group on the Isle of Wight for members to meet with other LGBTQ (Lesbian, gay, bi sexual, transgender and questioning) young people. Our groups are aimed at offering a safe and confidential space for young LGBTQ people to socialise, learn and have fun. We offer educational sessions and we encourage young people to join in to help build their confidence. One to one support is available within the group and we can enable young people to access other services they require through signposting and referrals. We can support members with telling people about their gender or sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Plus we can help them to find ways to cope with challenges in their lives and support them to stay safe in their relationships and community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
By providing a place for young people to feel accepted and confident, it helps them feel more integrated in to the community. This can have many benefits such as, the young people not wanted to get involved in crime as they do not feel any connections to the community they live in. It also help promote better mental health and well being which in turn helps create a better community.
