People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
Sporting Memories supports people living with dementia, providing an inclusive environment that helps older people to reminisce, replay and reconnect through the power of sport and physical activity.
About this cause
We are the official charity of Altrincham FC. Our aim is to provide programmes to support the physical and mental wellbeing of the people of Altrincham & South Trafford. We work with people from 3 years old through to people in their 80s and 90s. Through the power of sport, our programmes support people living in isolation, living with dementia, or living with special education needs.

How this cause brings people in the community together
Sporting Memories helps older people to reminisce, replay and reconnect through the power of sport and physical activity. Aimed at people aged over 50, especially those living with dementia, the sessions bring people together in a relaxed and friendly environment. Delivered by our trained volunteers, the sessions are a brilliant way to meet new people, talk about sport or just general life and have the opportunity to take part in some light physical activity such as boccia or curling. The sessions aim to support people living in isolation and people living with dementia, along with their families. Using the power of sport, we aim to bring many people together from different backgrounds to support one another.
