Juniors and Comets of Kington Cricket Club

Mental wellbeing

We'd like to improve the training facilities for our players by restoring the cricket net area for use during coaching sessions. It would also be accessible to the community outside of sessions.

About this cause

Our goal is to give young people in Kington and the surrounding area the opportunity to play and learn cricket in a supportive and positive environment. Furthermore, we provide learning and coaching opportunities for more established players, so they can help younger players on their sporting journey. We also aim to provide an avenue for women of all ages to play and enjoy the sport, through Kington Comets.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our project will help young people in our community, including the newly launched Comets team for women and girls, the existing under 11s, under 13s and under 15s players, as well as the two established men's teams, by providing a safe and functioning practice area to learn or develop skills. It will help peer support as players support and coach each other: we hope participation will foster confidence and resilience in the players too, as well as the ability to work within a team. Further than just the cricket club, this practice area has always been freely accessible to individuals, their families and friends outside of formal coaching sessions, and this remains the case.
