About this cause

Easington Lane Community Access Point (ELCAP) operates from its own premises which comprises the former Miners Colliery Welfare building, the Welfare Hall and a considerable grassed area. From these premises we provide activities and events of our own as well as hosting activities and events from local community groups and also offer room hire for local businesses and charities which helps maintain the sustainability of the Centre by offering events and activities at a cost which is accessible to all.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our Welfare Hall opened in 1958 and we look to replace the original windows and doors together with replacing the curtains, blinds, PA and lighting systems. This will ensure we have a hall that is versatile for events, activities and meetings for all ages of our community. We want a hall that can be used for any kind of activity so no one will have to travel outside of our community for their event. With the expected reduction in services offered by the local authority, we want to ensure our residents are not penalised through isolation and lack of help or support so we need a hall that can be used and is accessible by all.
