About this cause

The society is an independent charity dedicated to supporting people with sight impairment who live in the old county of Huntingdonshire. The Society provides a wide range of services and activities tailored to the individual needs of our 640 members, their carers and families. We also have 120 amazing volunteers who help with driving our members to clubs, help run fundraisers both for and with us, help run our coffee mornings or help out in the office. Our volunteers recently won a Hunts Forum gold award. As an independent self funded charity, we rely upon the generosity of the community to provide donations and legacies. We also organise fundraising activities throughout the year to financially support the society and deliver the range of activities.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Completion of this project will mean that it will benefit both the blind and partially sighted community of Old Huntingdonshire by having an updated and refurbished mobility aids room for them, their families and carers to visit in a more comfortable environment. Our membership has grown significantly in recent years and is expected to expand further with the ageing and growing population.
