SW20 are raising funds to expand our e-bike fleet and purchase a professional bike trailer that families can access for free, for moving even more and larger items around locally and sustainably.
About this cause
SW20, South West Edinburgh 20 Minute Neighbourhoods, is a group of local people who came together to discuss how they could make their communities better. We support local families to access businesses, public services, schools and green spaces in a more sustainable way. To date we have offered a free cargo bike hire scheme, in partnership with the Cargo Bike Movement who loaned us an eCargo Bike that we made available for free, to families in the South West. We have just set up the first SW Edinburgh Tool Library in partnership with Edinburgh Tool Library and Colinton Village Enterprises. We are about to take delivery of our own eCargo bike to continue offering it to local families in our SW Edinburgh communities for free.

How this cause brings people in the community together
After a successful trial, supported by the Cargo Bike Movement, of a free cargo bike hire scheme we are expanding our e-bike hire range as well as establishing the SW Edinburgh Tool Library with our other partners. We are raising funds towards the purchase of a professional bike trailer which would allow local people to shift large items around their communities for free and more sustainably, in addition to the option of trying out free e-bikes and borrowing tools. It will also allow for the sustainable transfer of larger tools from other Tool Library venues across the city by our volunteer cargo bike team. The opportunity for local families to try out bikes for free has already helped them make the next step to purchasing the right bike or just borrowing one when needed.
