Mill Lane Community Garden

The garden will bring people together in the community to share the vegetables and fruit. The focus on restoring nature and tackle climate change will be on bees, birds, hedgehogs and wildflowers.
About this cause
When the garden was set up in 2020 the aims were to develop an area that has been set aside by Nicolas King developers and is now under a 10-year lease with the Chinnor Parish Council, for the use and benefit of the local community. Since then, the building site has been transformed into a community garden with the hard work of a group of volunteers and the support of the local community. Garden produce is shared on a regular basis with the community: in addition, the garden hosts open days with activities for children, as well as visits from local pre-schools and primary schools. During summer, the garden has visits from local Rainbows, Brownies and Girl Guides groups and talks have also been given to local groups such as the Friendship Group and the local nursing home.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The garden will continue to share the produce with the local community, especially in this time of cost of living crisis. The garden will host activities for the whole community - from the elderly to the young - either in the way of talks, open days or garden activities that encourage biodiversity with the focus on bees, birds, hedgehogs and wildflowers. In addition, the garden will continue to provide a place of calm and reflection for people to visit, to listen to the birds and to enjoy the plants and wildlife.
