About this cause
East Cheshire NHS Charity raises money for Macclesfield District General Hospital (MDGH), Knutsford Community Hospital, Congleton War Memorial Hospital and all our community services. We work hand in hand with our incredible healthcare services to help them go above and beyond for patients, families and staff. We believe that everyone deserves access to the best possible healthcare, and our mission is to support our incredible local NHS to help them deliver it. We go beyond standard government funding and firmly believe that, by working together, we can make our local NHS that extra special. Whether you’re a donor, volunteer or corporate partner, your involvement and support are crucial in transforming the everyday for our local healthcare services.
How this cause brings people in the community together
A dementia-friendly garden will provide a therapeutic space for patients to participate in gardening activities and offer a suitable social environment to enjoy together with their relatives and friends. It will be based outside Ward 9, which is an acute care for the elderly ward specialising in dementia at Macclesfield hospital. The ward has recently undergone a refurbishment to create a more dementia-friendly environment, and the garden will further develop this. The garden will enhance patient wellbeing, promote independence, and reduce the distress and anxiety potentially caused by a stay in hospital.
