Little Owls Pre-School (Plymouth) CIO
People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
We want to create a fun, inspiring outdoor space which will fascinate and engage our children to encourage beneficial sustained outdoor play.

About this cause
Little Owls is a small, independent charity nursery offering up to 40 spaces for children aged between 0 and 5 years. This year, we hope to improve the wellbeing of our children by encouraging much more outdoor play. Access to fresh air and natural light will benefit all our children, but we have a number of children with special needs (some with very complex needs) who absolutely love being outdoors and who will most definitely benefit from physical exertion; the opportunity to develop their gross and fine motor skills and participating in co-operative play and team sports usually associated with the outdoors. With this in mind, our garden area desperately needs a range of outdoor toys, suitable for all our age groups, to inspire and engage our children.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our project will facilitate togetherness and team spirit within our setting by encouraging co-operative play. We hope to improve awareness of the outdoors and nature, encourage our children to explore and be inquisitive, and facilitate wellbeing by offering the opportunity to participate in sustained outdoor play through exciting, inspiring and engaging activities.
