About this cause

ACTIVITIES 1 The provision of an Inshore Rescue facility to save life, in the inland and coastal waters around Findhorn Bay up to three miles offshore. 2 To support Coastguard and RNLI operations. 3 To improve safety for users and visitors to Findhorn Bay. 4 To provide inshore rescue training for volunteers. The organisation operates a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) from a base at Findhorn Marina. The vessel is crewed by a volunteer team and is on call 365 days a year. MIRO Ltd is under the authority of the MCA . MIRO contributes a valuable service to the many locally based organisations who are involved in water based activities. MIRO is available support the high visitors to the area who take part in water activities who may find themselves in difficulty and has saved lives.

How this cause brings people in the community together

MIRO contributes a valuable service to the many locally based organisations who are involved in water based activities and include Findhorn Rowing Club, Royal Findhorn Yacht Club, Findhorn Angling Club, the Moray Gig and the Burghead boxing day charity swim. MIRO is on standby to support the high numbers of visitors to the area who take part in water activities. We are available for call out 24/7 - 365 days per year. We remain a vital service to the local area to ensure quick and effective responses winter and summer to any local incidents. The project to upgrade the communications system on the rescue boat will allow MIRO to maintain the highest capability in times of emergency when called on by the Maritime and Coastguard agency.
