True You Today CIC
People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
Our Workshops for Survivors are creative spaces to support people to reclaim their bodies and minds. We connect physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing for survivors of gendered abuse.
About this cause
True You Today was born of the desire to support women and non-binary survivors of domestic abuse through art, movement and creativity. Our mission to support survivors to reclaim their bodies has led us to support other groups facing gendered abuse including asylum seekers, sexual abuse survivors, people who have faced human trafficking and people facing homelessness. We have expanded our definition of survivors to be self-determined. Our programmes are designed by local women for local women and people on the genderqueer spectrum. We offer a suite of workshops, including dance, mindfulness, circus, coaching and photography, which all focus on physical and mental health, wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem for participants to build trust in themselves and bonds in their local community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We build stronger, healthier communities by forging connections to empowered choices through Workshops for Survivors. We offer dance, mindfulness, circus, and coaching which focus on physical and mental health, wellbeing and self-esteem to build trust and friendships. We will continue to run specialist workshops including aerial sessions to support strength, courage and flexibility; dance classes for physical health and social connections; and coaching for emotional wellbeing and resilience. The programme is designed to support people to incorporate physical activity into their daily life whilst facilitating learning and connection, enhancing their emotional wellbeing. With the cost-of-living crisis, self-care often gets neglected, and we aim to bridge this gap for those who need it most.
