We want to go away on our first camping trip, but our current biggest hurdle is the cost of transport and equipment.

About this cause

We’re based in the heart of the community & give girls opportunities to challenge themselves, be an active part of the community and question the world around them. Over the past year, we celebrated our 70th birthday with the Mayor of Wands Worth & our local MP; visited Brighton & Greenwich, explored outdoors, floated fire on water, raised funds for charity (The Malala Fund & Ace of Clubs), tasted food & explored cultures from around the world (while earning lots of badges!) We offer a safe space to try new things, help other people, discover passions & talents. We're dedicated to girls leading the way-they choose activities, challenges & events that inspire them & our volunteers help make it happen as girls shape & lead everything we do.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The trip aims to provide opportunities that our members may otherwise miss out on outside their families, promote independence, sense of adventure & entrepreneurial spirit whilst having a good time with friends & making new ones. Our unit has only previously offered indoor residential or ‘Brownie holidays’, but booked the camp and associated outdoor activities, including orienteering, backwoods cooking, looking after a tent and campsite as well a activities and ‘challenges’ to explore the outdoors and investigate, and engage with nature. We hope to encourage the girls develop their communication and to discover their own impact on the world around them as they gain confidence and develop life skills in very different activities as they are encouraged to take responsibility on the camp.
