About this cause

Rowan is a vibrant arts centre for adults with learning disabilities in Cambridge. For almost 40 years, we have provided a safe, creative, enriching and welcoming environment where the arts are used as a tool to bring people together, tackle social exclusion, develop skills and potential, improve happiness, health and wellbeing. We also deliver much-needed respite to families and carers. We believe that people living with a disability should have the same choices, quality of life, opportunities and aspirations as others. We enable our students to participate in and contribute to the wider community. We encourage people to “look at what I can do, not what I can’t”, helping our students find their voice and provide a platform from which to be heard.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our project will support over 80 local adults with learning disabilities. We help reduce loneliness and social isolation, develop skills and improve happiness, health and wellbeing. We help increase self-confidence, self-esteem and independence and we also provide much-needed respite to families.
