Almondbury Playgroup
People: Supporting young people to fulfil their potential
If we are successful in our bid we would create a safe, durable and easily accessible seating area, enabling our children to focus on learning outdoors with both adults and their peers.

About this cause
We are a charity-run playgroup established in 1967. Situated within the grounds of All Hallows School in the heart of Almondbury, we support children aged between 2–4 years until they are ready to join reception classes within schools, teaching them personal, social, emotional, physical and communication skills. We really need some permanent, safe, durable and easily accessible outdoor seating areas in order to engage our children in adult and peer-led activities. At the moment we have to sit on mats as our old seating is unsafe. Due to the increased cost of living, this is an impossible task for us to achieve. We fundraise often and this goes towards everyday resources such as snacks and various equipment. Outdoor seating would enrich each child's learning experiences.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our project will continue to benefit generations of children in the Almondbury community and beyond. We have parents who attended playgroup as a toddler, now bringing their own children and so on. We aim to build strong relationships and support our local sense of community. Parents tell us that their children love coming to playgroup and we strive to give them the most positive experiences. We would like our children to feel safe and secure in our environment, promoting positive outlooks which in turn will enable them to move forward in their school lives. These are the most formative years of a young child's life and we are the springboard for that start. Enriching their learning experiences with some new seating for our outdoors area will certainly benefit them and our future children.
