About this cause

As an established community of growers we share our skills and encourage others to enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits that come from spending time outdoors growing produce to create healthy, delicious, affordable meals and learn to live more sustainably. Community is so important to us and we recognise that recent cost rises in the food sector have exacerbated food poverty, so it seems timely for us to support others in sharing our knowledge of growing and cooking.

How this cause brings people in the community together

This inclusive project is available to all, either face-to-face at the workshops or via online tutorials and the grow and cook recipe cards available at the community garden and in selected Co-op Stores. Our recipes will feature good, healthy nutritious food showing how to limit waste and make the most of the food you grow, including growing from harvested seeds and vegetable offcuts. Other items for the meals can be accessed at the local Co-op. The recipes, sourced from our gardeners and local well-known personalities, will be low-cost to stretch the family budget and provide cooking inspiration. One side of the laminated cards will have growing tips and the reverse will show the recipe. Workshops and tutorials will encourage sharing ideas that support wellbeing and mental health.
