We would like to continue to provide food for the people in our community who need it most. With living costs increasing, more and more people need support.
About this cause
We are a food bank providing food parcels to people in need in Lancing and Sompting, West Sussex. Everyone has been hit by the cost-of-living and energy crisis over the last couple of years. Many people who were previously managing have been suddenly tipped over the edge into financial hardship, perhaps for the first time in their lives. Overall there has been a 20-30% increase in the number of people accessing our service. Over the last year we have handed out over 1,000 food bags, each one containing £27 of food, plus 360 extra bags, as well as 660 meat vouchers, supermarket vouchers and fuel vouchers. Our clients include families, pensioners and people struggling with mental health issues. We also donate food to a local school's breakfast club for low-income families.
How this cause brings people in the community together
This project will continue to help the most vulnerable people in our community, at a time when they need it the most. During the cost-of-living crisis, many people are experiencing food and fuel poverty. We are providing essential support to families, older people and those struggling with longer term health issues.
