About this cause

Doorway is a small charity dedicated to advising and supporting disadvantaged homeless young people aged 16-25 throughout Warwickshire. The aim of Doorway is to ensure that all vulnerable young people receive the help and support necessary to be able to increase their confidence, raise their aspirations and move forward positively in their lives and fulfil their needs and potential. All our activities are aimed to help young people gain a legacy of skills, knowledge, social resilience and contacts that enable them to continue growing and maturing as they become young adults, able to sustain a tenancy, be economically independent, mentally and physically healthy and active as young citizens in their local communities.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We support young people aged 16-25 to overcome barriers they face such as poverty, low aspirations and low prior educational attainment. These young people have had a tough, chaotic start in life and have multiple and complex needs. We help them to develop their life skills and enable them to make a positive contribution to society either through education, volunteering or employment by empowering them to turn their lives around and participating positively in the local community. By being able to provide essential items such as a bed, cooking equipment and help to decorate their homes this will increase their self-confidence, self-esteem, mental well being and sense of self-worth. This also leads to increased motivation and will make a world of difference to their life chances.
