About this cause
Disability Positive provide services, opportunities and a voice to people with lived experience of disability/long-term health conditions, and their families. We are a charity and a Disabled People’s Organisation (DPO) based in Cheshire. This means the majority of staff, volunteers and trustees have lived experience of disability/long-term health condition. Good Company is our adult social group which meets weekly in Chester (CH2 2PX) and provides opportunities for adults to spend time with peers, achieve positive emotional wellbeing and be active in their local community, supported by a small staff team who manage all personal requirements (care and behaviour).
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our project will continue to support young disabled adults in our community, to spend time with their peers in a supportive group setting to enjoy social activities of their choice. Adults will have opportunities to reduce social isolation, increase self-confidence and achieve positive emotional wellbeing. Our project will continue to provide weekly activity sessions which will be user-led, and disabled adults will choose the activities they take part in and will attend activities independent of parents or carers. We will offer volunteer and work placements for any person in the local community and access to free training workshops to increase personal skillsets.
