Tavistock Dementia Action Alliance
People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
We would like to continue to provide social activities to meet the needs of people with dementia and help relieve them of isolation and loneliness.

About this cause
The Alliance is a registered charity and our aim is to relieve the needs of people with dementia and their carers in Tavistock and surrounding areas. After a successful National Lottery bid to fund the employment of a Dementia Coordinator over five years, we are required to achieve some match funding to fully pay for the post. We aim to provide social activities to meet their needs and relieve isolation and loneliness, and we offer free training to local businesses and social groups to help them understand how dementia affects their lives. We provide information in guides and packages, social media and our website, and work in association and liaison with other charities and organisations in the Tavistock area.
How this cause brings people in the community together
A Dementia Coordinator will help to improve the wellbeing of those on their journey with dementia and their carers. The role will help to create more support services locally and raise awareness of dementia and how this affects lives.
