Stretford Children's Theatre
People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
Our children are desperate to stage a show in Stretford, but our last one cost over £17k to stage and we just don't have the money. We are trying to raise this money now to stage a show next year.
About this cause
Our mission is to inspire, educate and enrich our young and wider community by providing high-quality, accessible performing arts sessions, and through public productions. Our aims include: Providing fun, creative opportunities for our members Increasing confidence, resilience, and independence; developing collaboration and leadership skills to enhance future employability; supporting physical and mental health and wellbeing; providing a safe and respectful environment for all; being an affordable resource for all the community. Developing knowledge and appreciation of the arts helps to encourage connection with our local community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
This project will enable our community to use drama as a way of having fun, making friends, supporting their mental health and wellbeing, and increasing their confidence at an affordable price. We have approximately 100 members who come each week during term time, aged between four and 60. Our case studies show that we have made great differences to some of our members and our questionnaires tell us that most members find the sessions fun and look forward to returning.
